Dax was born and raised in Hickory, North Carolina. He grew up in a family of artists.
His father graduated from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY with a masters in architecture.
His mother went to Hunter College in Manhattan and was an abstract painter.
Both of his parents were also teachers.
They would tryout their lesson plans on their children, so art projects were always going on.
His grandparents who also were artists always had creative projects for them to do.
Dax grew up in the theater as well, acting with a local theater group.
He chose to study sculpture, and graduated from the Academy of Art University, San Francisco in 2005.
He is currently exploring humor as a way to tell stories with found objects.
